Director Bio:

Holly Mosher is an award winning filmmaker. After graduating with honors from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, she produced several commercials and feature films, including Lady in the Box and Reeseville.

Following her calling to work on projects which help bring about positive change, she set out making, Hummingbird. Holly’s documentary explores two non-profits in Brazil who work with street children and women suffering domestic violence. We see their lives beautifully transform and break the cycle of violence.

As producer of the critically acclaimed Side Effects, starring Katherine Heigl, and Vanishing of the Bees.

The Hollywood Reporter named her one of the top up-and-coming independent film producers.

Bonsai People – The Vision of Muhammad Yunus is her current passion project.

Editor Bio:

George Walker-Torres was born in Caracas, Venezuela. George moved to Paris to attend the Sorbonne University where he studied Literature as an undergraduate. After completing his coursework in 1993, he was accepted to study directing at the prestigious FEMIS (ex IDHEC), France's national film school. 

While at FEMIS he wrote and directed two narrative short films, "The Stone" and "East" which premiered at various international film festivals - among others, Clermont Ferrand, Festival de Pantin, Angers, Hong Kong, Amsterdam, NYU, Tel Aviv, Stockholm, Turin, Rimini, Rio de Janeiro, Munich, Valencia, Bombay, Tai Pei - winning several awards (Silver Centaur: St. Petersburg Film Festival, 2nd prize: Hong Kong Film festival, Special Mention: Tel Aviv Film Festival).

Upon graduation in 1997, FEMIS awarded him their highest honor, Congratulations of the Jury. He went on to direct "Unterwegs (On The Way)" a documentary film about the Jewish poet Paul Celan and he worked as the 2nd Assistant Director on Fina Torres’s feature film "Celestial Clockwork." He also served the same role on various commercials and music videos.

In 1999 he received a scholarship to participate in THE AMERICAN FILM INSTITUTE Masters program in screenwriting in Los Angeles. He graduated in 2001. As a writer, he has worked with director Fina Torres, for Kundalini pictures on "Autuman in Spring" and for Tactics Productions on a project called "Sos Doctors."

George has also teaching experience: he was a directing and writing teacher in 2001 and 2002 for the ICF summer program at THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. George speaks and writes four languages and currently resides in Paris, France. 

 

Composer Bio:

A Brazilian born and raised guitarist, João Junqueira's unique approach to music comes from a lifetime spent in Brazil and years of Jazz studies at Ohio State and California Institute of the Arts. 

Improvisation is the foundation for his original pieces, weaving a texture of guitar, voice and percussive sounds influenced by Brazilian, Jazz and World music, not to mention imagery and visualizations. By interpreting music within emotional and spiritual settings, Mr. Junqueira intends to share with his audiences his personal belief that music is the most powerful channel for transcendence of any existent boundaries between beings, spirits and cultures. 

Since December/96, the conclusion of his Jazz Guitar MFA at Calarts, João worked intensively as a performer, composer, arranger and lecturer of Brazilian music in the Los Angeles area. He is now working on his PhD in Ethnomusicology at Colorado University-Boulder, where he currently directs the CU-Boulder Brazilian Ensemble. He is also teaching Music's of the world at Metropolitan State College of Denver. 

Mr. Junqueira recorded his own compositions and is featured in other artists’ recordings such as Ray Sandoval, Wovoka. Sympatiko, his latest CD release, which is is on national distribution by Green Leaf, and has been featured on hundreds of radio stations worldwide. Sympatiko CD was in the top 30 chart for NAR., in 2004. He has lectured about Improvisation and Brazilian Music at Federal University, Brazil and Colorado University-Boulder. João performed live shows with Sympatiko in several Festivals in Southern California, Los Angeles and the Bay area, San Francisco. 

As a member of Cusuco, a Latin Folk Group. João was awarded a Grant from the City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department to perform and educate about music of various Latin American cultures. 

João has also written film soundtracks. His most recent work is the music score of "Hummingbird", an awarded documentary about homeless kids in Brazil. He is currently an active performer and lecturer in the communities of Boulder and central Colorado.
